Annie Therissa Holman was born on November 7, 1944, in Lewisburg, Tennessee to John Frank and Ollie Pauline Mayes. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Therissa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Roy David Holman; brother, John T. Mayes; sister, Nancy L. O’Neal; two sons, Jerry Wayne and James Edward Holman; and grandson, Jerron Paul Elliott.

She was baptized into Christ by Bro. Nathaniel Braden, Evangelist from Memphis, during a gospel meeting in Petersburg, TN. She faithfully attended East Side and West End Church of Christ where she was active in teaching and performing the duties of a minister’s wife. She enjoyed working with the youth around Marshall County instilling in them a solid value system and attending to their needs.  She was educated in the Marshall County School System. Considering all her accomplishments the most rewarding was being a Christian and leading others to Christ. She was an avid reader, and the Bible was her book of choice being well versed in the scriptures.

At times, she held quality conversations with random people which sometimes lead to lasting friendships.  She had a good heart and displayed a benevolent spirit while giving her time and other resources to help others in need.

She assisted in providing for her family by working at several manufacturing companies throughout the years (J.R. Moon Pencil Company, Teledyne, and Cosmolab). Her duties did not end there, she was also a homemaker, raised her four boys while developing and caring for other children in her home. She enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, cooking, baking, visiting the nursing homes and hospitals, fishing, shopping, and thrifting.

She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Those who will lovingly cherish her memory are sons, Johnny Holman of Lewisburg, TN and Jimmy (Priscilla) Holman of Sugar Land, TX; one brother, Joe Mayes of Lewisburg, TN; two sisters, Edna Williams (Anthony) of Louisville, KY and Mary Davis of Chicago, IL;  two granddaughters, Ariyan Holman of Columbia, TN and Shayla Williams (Chris) of Houston, TX; goddaughter Latoya McFarland of Lewisburg, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
