Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Faithful Servant of the Lord
Helen Katherine Cunningham passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.
Helen Cunningham was born on May 26, 1933, to Ross and Pansy Williams in Tullahoma, TN. Helen attended Davidson Academy School and graduated with the class of 1951.
Helen served faithfully in the Knox County School system in Knoxville, TN. After retirement, Helen devoted her time to caring and raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Married to Sgt. Ezekiel James Cunningham, Helen would travel the world as a devoted wife, and even held residency in Panama with her family.
Helen was a devout Christian who attended church every Sunday. Her children would say, “she was at church every day of the week!” Helen made sure that her family and friends knew about the Lord. She loved sharing the word of God. She was known for quoting scriptures, singing gospel songs, and leaving scriptures in places, her family would find in their time of need. Helen was a member and regular attendant of Second Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Kelvin Barlow, as well as, Born Again Church, Nashville, TN.
Helen loved her children and she especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who could do no wrong in her eyes.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Ross and Pansy Williams. Ezekiel James Cunningham (husband). Ross Williams Jr and James Williams (brothers). Juanita Brown, Lillian Keese, and Mary Frances Curry (sisters). Eugenia Watson, Betty Sue Brown (nieces), and many other loving relatives.
She is survived by her 2 daughters Pamela (Gary) Johnson and Sherie Cunningham. Grandchildren: Jose Williams, Travis Cunningham, Joshua (Smathe) Toles, Kassiah Johnson, Monique Johnson, and Camille Cunningham. Great Grandchildren: Astria Cunningham, Lorenzo Williams, Payton Flagg, Presley Flagg, Gianna Williams, Marli Williams, Mila Williams, Josiah Latham, Jeremiah Latham, Zemira Toles, Jerry Polk, Micah Russell, and Yeshua Toles. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
