Kress L. Taylor's Live Stream

Kress Lee (Smith) Taylor, born on September 1, 1933, in Gould, Arkansas, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 26, 2024.

The daughter of Amanda Richards and George Smith, Kress spent her formative years in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. A proud graduate of Merrill High School’s Class of 1952, she was the eldest of seven siblings. She is preceded in death by her brothers Ervin and LaFayette Wooten, and her sister Wilma Pickens, all of Pine Bluff. She leaves behind three beloved sisters: Vera Scott of Jamaica, New York; and Jeanette Pridgeon and Florell Dean, both of Pine Bluff.

Following her graduation, Kress relocated to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she began her career as an elevator operator before moving on to a position as a cook at Levi Hospital. In 1964, she met Charles Taylor and made the move to Tennessee. That same year, Kress dedicated her life to Christ and became a devoted member of Sand Hill Church of Christ, where she remained a faithful congregant for 60 years.

Kress was a loving mother to seven children: Carolyn (Joe) Kincaid, Jestine (Gerald) O’Bryant, Jesse (Yong) Davis, Kamala Chunn, Janice Corcoran, Jason (Montoya) Taylor and Stuart (Rosemary) Taylor; she was a proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren: Ronnisha Allen, Trimeco Martin, Princess Simons, Joel O’Bryant, Matt O’Bryant, Jaimisha Davis, Angela Steward, Denise Norris, Kenneth Chunn Jr., Johanna Chunn, Jasmine Mhlanga, Amanda Corcoran, Elizabeth Corcoran, Larria Corcoran, Larenzo Corcoran, Alexis Burgess, Angelica Brown and Amber Walsh; she was also a doting great-grandmother to 22 great-grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit also extended to a cherished host of nieces and nephews.

A skilled cook, Kress found joy in preparing meals for her family and friends. Kress had a deep passion for baking and decorating cakes for special occasions, bringing joy and sweetness to her family and friends. She was known for her competitive spirit at the dominoes table, her love for cryptograms, and her deep engagement with the Bible, finding solace in God’s word at all hours of the day and night.

Professionally, Kress worked as an inspector at Aladdin Industries in Nashville, Tennessee, for 25 years. She earned certifications in Powered Lift truck operation and Quality Assurance from Nashville State Technical Institute.

Kress’s legacy is one of love, faith, and dedication. Her family, church community and friends will remember her for her unwavering Christian walk and the warmth she brought into their lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
