Linda Marie Batey departed this life on September 27, 2024 surrounded by her family to embrace a new life filled with peace, rest, and praise to her Father God in the city of night. She was the fourth child born to the late Mr. John Anderson and Miss Jessie Batey on February 24, 1945, in Davidson County, TN. Linda is preceded in death by five brothers: John Robertson, John, Joe, and Eugene Anderson, as well as one sister, Carolyn Batey. Survived by her loving sister Ann Fleming.
Linda attended public schools in Nashville, TN. After studying the Bible, she was baptized into the body of Christ in 1960 at Green Street Church of Christ. Throughout her life, she was a devoted member of Hart Street Church of Christ and Scott Avenue Church of Christ. Before her health declined, she worshiped at Rural Hill Church of Christ and continued her worships via online services.
Linda worked for Whirlpool Company for many years until the company closed. Following that, she started her own personal cleaning service for private homes and residences, continuing in that role until her retirement.
Linda was known for her exceptional cooking skills, her generous pots of spaghetti that she would happily share with family and her special fruit tea. A passionate football fan, she loved tailgating and cheering for her favorite teams. Known to cut a rug when it was time to have fun, and her beautiful singing voice was a gift that touched the hearts of many. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she made it a priority to ensure everyone received a gift, never expecting anything in return.
Linda had a remarkable green thumb; she could grow anything. People would often stop by to ask for tips and to admire her beautiful flowers. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Linda leaves to cherish her loving memory to her four children, Pernell Thompson, Denise (Robert) London, Bridget (Metro) Boykin and Jerome (Melissa) Thompson; seven grandchildren, Keely Thompson, Trevonta Thompson, Lemesa (Keith) Graham, Kiara and Ernest Bellefant, Daleigh and Tayshaun Thompson; ten great grandchildren, Devin, Trevyon, Jasmiyah, Kameron, Briyana, Kelorain, Keelan, Kehlanee, Ky'ceon and Alaya; a devoted companion, Thomas Lipscombs; close friend, Billy Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
