Margaret “Sis” Buchanan was born on October 26, 1928 to the late Edward Brown and Gertrude Thurman in Shelbyville, Tennessee. On February 10th, 2013 our heavenly father called on his beloved angel to come to her eternal home.

Margaret professed her life to Christ at an early age. She received her education in Shelbyville, TN. On October 22, 1947, Margaret was united in holy matrimony to William Herbert “Buck” Buchanan. Sis, who she was affectionately called, was a dedicated homemaker to her husband and six children. She was also a loving and dedicated grandmother to all her grandchildren. Margaret never hesitated to use her favorite line, “Get somewhere and sit down.” Sis was also known for her skills in the kitchen with her infamous cakes and rolls.

She was preceded in death by her husband William “Buck” Buchanan; her brothers Richard Brown of Shelbyville, TN and Thurman Brown (Erma) of Augusta, GA; and granddaughter Bridgette Buchanan. She leaves to cherish her memories, children, Veronica (Paul) Teague, Barbara A. Wilson, Helen (Rickey) Thomas, William Timothy Buchanan, George (Veronica) Buchanan and Sarah (Charles) Garrett; Grandchildren, Tryna (Deon) McCaulley, NaTasha Thomas, Michael Wilson, Giorgiette Buchanan, LaShonda Campbell; and eight great grandchildren. Lastly, she leaves one surviving cousin David Thurman of Columbus, GA; two sister-in-laws; and nieces and nephews.
