Earline was born in Cannon County, Auburntown, Tennessee to the late Felix Hayes and Johnnie Ray Rhodes.  She passed away Monday, May 17, 2021.

Earline accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John United Methodist Church in Lascassas, Tennessee where she was an active member of the choir until her health prevented her from singing, but not attending church.

Commonly known as momma and grand-momma to the immediate family, but Mrs. Earline, Mrs. Sneed, Mrs. Allen or Lennie to others, she had a passion for nice things and loved to “dress up”.  Her lipstick made it all complete and purple was her favorite color.  She loved going to the Celebration every year and being in the midst of that community.  She loved basketball, going to yard sales and most of all, riding, whether she was driving or riding shotgun.  She loved cooking and even won second place in the “Turnip Green” cooking contest at Holloway High School one year.  If she could have, she would have eaten turnip greens every day.  She could clean and cook any kind of small wild game.

As mom’s health continued to decline and she was unable to go back to church due to the pandemic, she continued to worship and praise God from home.  She got joy in listening to music and singing.  Some of her favorite sons to sing were “The Lord Will Make A Way Somehow”, “Precious Lord” and “I’m Coming Up On The Rough Side Of The Mountain”.

Her southern-country dialect and sayings such as “You don’t mean it?” or “I’ll say” or “It’s good to see you hun” and “I’m too old of a cat to be fooled by a kitten” will forever linger in our memories.

“Precious memories, oh how they linger”

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Sneed Sr.; mother, Johnnie Ray Rhodes; father, Felix Hayes; stepfather, Albert Rhodes; sons, Leonard Allen and Wayne Allen; stepsons, Larry Sneed and Ronnie Sneed; daughter, Florence Martin; brothers, Charlie Hayes and Cecil Hayes; father of her children, James Gordon Allen “Lightning.”
