Ernest Nathaniel Bowen was born on September 14, 1962 to the late Charles Evans Bowen and Vergie Wade Batten. Growing up Ernest and his siblings attended Brandon Chapel Church, Ernest loved worshipping God and singing at church. At the tender age of 7 or 8 Ernest would go outside under any tree and he would play drums on a bucket and sing. He was accompanied by his younger brother Fred Jr. who would (after the musical selection from Ernest) stand on the same bucket and preach.

Ernest attended Mitchell Nelson in Murfreesboro, TN and Cascade School in Bell Buckle, TN. Ernest loved people. He was passionate about helping others, if he had it, or knew someone that did, he always made it happen! He loved his children and grandchildren dearly! He loved to cook, he particularly loved grilling. He enjoyed playing and watching football. Ernest departed this life at St. Thomas Rutherford County Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN early on the morning of November 6, 2021. He was preceded in death by two brothers Gregory Bowen and Terry Bowen. Ernest leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother Vergie Batten, his significant other Sara Schimley, three daughters Keshia Bowen, Adrianna Smith, and Ameeraha Bowen, and one son Anton Bowen. Five grandchildren Naziya Oatis, Montaisia Bowen, Rodreia Oatis, Patricia Bowen, and Craigreona Marshall. Seven brothers: Jeffery Bowen (Connie); Randy Bowen; Virgil Bowen (Regina); Fred Batten Jr. (Denise); and Dewayne Batten. Three sisters: Revonda Batten, Tiara Wilson-Elien, and Sharon Bowen. Beloved Aunts & Uncles: Vinnie Rucker, Dorothy Martin (Wilson), Bettie Wade (James), Bobbie Jean Wells, Nancy Gross, and LeRoy Wade, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
