Frank Renzo Woodson, Sr. was born January 28, 1924 in Robertson County Tennessee to the late Ethel and Admire Woodson. He departed this life on June 7, 2016, at his home.
Frank, affectionately known as “D-Addy” by his children, “Granddaddy” by all his grandchildren and “Big Frank” by his friends was educated in the Robertson County School System. He received Christ at an early age, was baptized and became a member of the Beard’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield, Tennessee. He was a faithful and active member of the Senior Usher board, where he later served as President until his health failed. He was also a Trustee and served on the financial board and was the oldest male member of Beards Chapel. Frank was a hardworking and dedicated farmer all of his life, who also instilled his hard work and ethics in is children and grandchildren. He retired from Peterbilt Motors Company where he was a dependable employee for more than 30 years.
On July 29, 1944, he married Ophelia Bradley, which preceded him in death in 2007. To this union 11 children were born, four of which preceded him in death. Four sisters preceded him in death including Blanche Woodson, Margaret Matthews, Virginia Woodson and Josephine Wright; one grandchild, Danita Gardner; and one great grandchild, Marcus Dunn.
He leaves to mourn his children, Geraldine (Roger) Sawyers of Nashville, TN, Maxine Smith of Springfield, TN, Jerry (Joan) Woodson of Virginia Beach, VA, Deborah (Dr. Clarence) Gooch of Jackson, TN, Frank Jr. (Penny) Woodson, of Springfield, TN, Donna (Darrell) Woodard of Springfield, TN and Kevin (Jackie) Woodson of Cedar Hill, TN; one sister, Eva Nell Nicholson of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Melvin (Laviter) Chatman and Robert (Peggy) Woodson of Springfield, TN; sister-in-law Alice Marie Britt of Clarksville, TN; and a special niece, Betty Harris of Bowling Green, KY.
To cherish his memories are 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends who loved him dearly
