Mr. John Edward “Buck” Darden was born on April 18, 1928 to the late George H. Darden, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Eliza Wade Darden. He departed his earthly life early Friday morning, January 29, 2021.
Mr. Darden was raised in LaVergne, TN and was educated in the Rutherford County School System. He went on to work at the Ford Glass Plant in Nashville, TN for 26 years until his retirement in 1991.
Mr. Darden was affectionately known as “Buck” to everyone that knew and loved him and Mr. John to others. Buck enjoyed his daily Hardee’s breakfast stop visiting with friends as he ate before he started out on his daily travels checking in on family and other friends. Although he never stayed in one place for long, he made a point to at least try to visit whoever was at home. Buck enjoyed helping others in any way he could. He was a jack of all trades and there was nothing he couldn’t fix or patch together to make it work. He was a very funny and caring man that will be greatly missed by his family, friends and church family at Sand Hill Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by brothers, James B. Darden, George H. Darden and William R. Darden; sister, Arletta G. Anderson; and granddaughter, Shannon N. Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories, loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Rosa Darden; children, Sylvia (Tommy) Smith, Yolanda, Chris (Eboni) and devoted daughter Elaine (Antonio) Darden; grandchildren, John (Ciji) Hayes, Jasmin Rutledge, Jevon Lee, JaKeyia Darden, Lamaechen Jones, Larry “Joe” Jones, Journey Darden, Jyla Darden, KeAiosha Anderson, TiQuisha Anderson, Tamia Starks and devoted granddaughter Lyric “Gigi” Jones; great grandchildren, Maleia Greer, Karter White and Promise Foster; devoted family members, Joyce Williams, Allen Williams, Sr., JoAnn Swanson, Patricia Massey, Margaret Gilbert, George Hayes and Isiah Kelley; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
