Melvin Martin, Sr. departed this life on Thursday Evening, October 20, 2022, from a brief illness. He lived his life to the fullest and loved being the spotlight of the room with his infectious smile. He enjoyed attending family gatherings until his health no longer would allow him to.

He worked numerous years as a Construction Worker and in his later years he worked briefly for a local community grocery store. He worked until his health no longer permitted him to.

Melvin Martin, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents James Henry and Roberta Bradley Martin; and sisters, Ora Dee Palmer, Gladys J. Domingue, Merelyn Smith, Jeanette McGee, Carolyn Martin and Mary Barksdale.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a brother, Jimmy Martin; three loving and devoted children: one daughter, Marilyn (Keith) Tansil, Sr., and two sons, Tracy Martin and Melvin (Vanessa) Martin, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Tony (Renee) Miller, Jr., Raven Miller, Keith Tansil, Jr., Keandra Hunter, Montray Sanders, Trakuita Sanders, KaTyrius Martin and KaTyra Martin; ten great grandchildren; and he also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, loved ones and friends.
