Prentice “Pete” Foster was born on May 20, 1930 to the late Ollie Mai Rainer in Brownsville, Tennessee.  After his mother’s death, he was raised by his aunt and uncle the late Odessa and John H. Jaycox.

Prentice graduated from high school, worked a variety of jobs, and travelled across the country before joining the Army Reserves in 1951.  After serving two years in the Army, he continued to serve his country by serving in the Navy from 1953-1960.  While in the Navy he was presented with the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Bronze Star.  He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1960.

During his time in the Navy he met the love of his life Queen Esther Fulcher.  The two were joined in Holy Matrimony on July 23, 1957.  This union was blessed with four daughters Teresa, Beverly, Brenda, Darlene, and one son Prentice Jr. (Deceased).

After his discharge from the Navy, they moved to Wichita, Kansas where he worked for Cessna Aircraft Corporation.  In 1967, they moved to Saginaw, Michigan where he was employed by Dow Chemical Company.  He retired from Dow in 1991.  They moved to Shelbyville, Tennessee in 2008.

Prentice was preceded in death by two sisters Pearlie Mae Palmer and Juanita Nixon; and four brothers, Leo Foster, Willie Jaycox, Johnnie Frank Jaycox, and Charles Foster.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years Queen Esther Foster; his daughters, Barbara (Charles) Howard of Austin, TX, Teresa (Earl) Webb of Shelbyville, TN, Beverly Foster of Smyrna, TN, Brenda Trapp of Tacoma, WA and Darlene (Willie) Hendricks of Shelbyville, TN; brothers, LC (Willie Lou) Young of Decatur, IL and Jimmy D.
