Today, we celebrate the life of Roy Bernard O’Neal. Bernard was born on November 29. 1943 to LeRoy and Maxine O’Neal in Lewisburg, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Maxine O’Neal, grandmother, Ethel Johnson and son, Delwin O’Neal.

Bernard was a graduate of Jones School in Lewisburg, Tn. where he played football. After graduation, Bernard joined the army and served our country in the Vietnam War. Bernard found the love of his life, Gail Ray, the two soon became one. Gail and Bernard would have celebrated 59 years of wedded bliss on Dec. 26th. Out of this union, two handsome men were born, Delwin and Dionne.

Bernard retired from L&N CXS Railroad company. After his retirement, he became obsessed with motorcycles. He and his sons had several motorcycles and he loved spending time at the race track with his sons.

Bernard was baptized at an early age at First Baptist church. He had such a devoted love for Christ which drew him to become a minister at First Baptist before he transitioned to a minister at Liggett Street Church of God. You knew Bernard was in the house of the Lord when you either heard or saw his holy ghost shout!

Bernard is survived by his wife, Gail O’Neal, a son, Dionne O’Neal, one sister, Carolyn (Alvin) Presley, sister-in-law, Anita Scott, three brothers-in-law: Robert (Tina) Ray, Mark (Juanita) Ray, and Ricky Ray, seven grandchildren: Jujuan Greer, Justin O’Neal, Marquis O’Neal, Marquel O’Neal, Rashead O’Neal, Nathan O’Neal, and Jerron Braden, four great-grandchildren: Naveah Davis, Jayshaun O’Neal, Xazavion O’Neal, and Jazmyn Marie O’Neal, a devoted friend, Jody Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
