Curtis Hayes Wilson was born Moses H. Wilson, Jr., but later changed his name to Curtis, and his parents were the late Moses H. Wilson, Sr. and Birdie Debow Wilson from Wilson County. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Rosa Belle McAdoo, Marie Wilson, Edgar Felix Wilson, Kermit M. Wilson, Dora Owens and Ethel Green; and children, Marion “May May” Wade and William Gerald “Peanut” Butler.
Curtis was a loving person who served in the Korean War (1953-55) where he received four medals of honor and later became a mechanic in Nashville, TN. In later years, his health required constance care, and he was admitted to Boulevard Terrace Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, Murfreesboro, TN.
He is survived by his children, Peggy (Bracie) Tharpe of Henry County, Glenn “Clipper” (Irene) Butler, Lynn (Cornelius) Butler-Bailey, Benneth Wilson, Larry Butler, Tisa Butler of Davidson County, Dara “Cissy” Butler of Hermitage, TN and Curtis Hayes Butler of Dallas, TX; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; devoted nieces, Florence Smith, Bessie (Robert) Batey-Stokes and Katie Wilson, all of Murfreesboro, TN; and other relatives and friends.
