Born and raised in Unionville, TN on September 19, 1933 to the late Willie Lee and Myrtis Biggers. Upon moving to Shelbyville after marrying, the family enjoyed life which bore children.
Mother Brown was married to Pastor John E. Brown, Sr. for 56 years. During this period, she served as First Lady at Mt. Olive MBC, where Rev. Brown serves as Pastor for the last 37 years. She has always referred to Brandon Chapel MBC as her home church.
Besides mom, the most affectionate terms of endearment she enjoyed were “Aunt Jean” and “Ms. Jean.” While residing on East Cedar Street and employed at First Christian Day Care Center, she touched, watched and supported the lives of so many children. To this day, many children retain numerous memories of her and the culinary skills.
Mom loved to have lots of flowers planted around the house, thanks to the efforts of Naomi and Larry. She also loved the company of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her son, Rev. John E. Brown, Jr.; grandson, James R. Pointer; granddaughter-in-law, Lisa M. Pointer; sisters, Katherine Biggers and Sammie Frazier; brother, Robert Biggers, Sr.; mother-in-law, Priscilla Brown; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Johnson and Vera Biggers.
