Linda, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, was born on March 6, 1955 in Giles County, TN,  to the late Clyde and Anna Louise Ezell-Polk. Linda entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 31, 2021.

She was preceded in death by brother James Edward Polk and his wife Bert. Linda was educated in the Maury County School Systems, attending Clark Elementary and later she would graduate in 1973 from Mt. Pleasant High School where in the previous year, 1972 she was crowned Ms. Duck River.

She professed her faith in Christ at an early age attending Happy Hill Church in Linville, TN. She was later baptized by the late Rev. Amos Walker, uniting with the Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church. She would later unite with Pleasant Union and Carmack Blvd Church of Christ until her untimely passing.

In 1984 she received her nursing degree where she worked with IOI Health Care for many years doing what she loved, home health care and private duty sitting. She would often talk about how much joy her patients gave her.

To know Linda was to love Linda. She was smart, witty, firm and sometimes sassy and didn’t mind telling you what was on her mind. In her leisure she loved to read and watch soap operas.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two devoted sons, Carlton and Justin Cathey both of Columbia, TN; two brothers, Robert (Beverly) Polk of Indianapolis, Indiana and Terry Polk of Defuniack Springs, FL.; two sisters, Virginia Newman of Chicago, Illinois and Brenda (Tim) Gaines of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one aunt, Florence Simmons of Baltimore, Maryland; father of her sons, Darrell Cathey; a devoted and loving niece, Felicia Scribner; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who all loved her dearly.
