Lena Emerette Hamilton was born March 11, 1945 to the late Willie Joe Alexander and Willie Mae Gordon. She left this earthly life on Friday, April 7, 2017.
Lena was a graduate from Natchez High School, class of 1963 and then attended Tennessee State University. She was employed by two daycares and worked with child nutrition for Franklin Special school district. She was also a seamstress, baker, cook and a nurturer.
Lena was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years where she taught Sunday school for decades.
She was preceded in death by brother, Bruce Alexander and son-in-law, Jeff Chatman.
Lena is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Fred Hamilton III; daughter, Lisa Renee Hamilton-Chatman; son, Darryl Kevin (Nicole) Hamilton; sisters, Tena (Tarry) Walker, Lucille (Donnell) Robertson and Doris Walker; brothers, Walter Alexander and Thomas (Rita) Alexander; grandchildren, Jelisa Chatman, Sabrina Hamilton and Jordan Chatman; mother-in-law, Juanita Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Reva Witherspoon and Lolita Fleming; brothers-in-law, Cordell (Julie) Witherspoon, James (Emma) Witherspoon and Keith (Christy) Witherspoon; and many other relatives and friends.
