Ruby G. Smith was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee to the late Robert L. and Pearl Buchanan on April 3, 1920. She was married to the late Galveston Willie Smith in 1937. To this union three children were born, Willie, Barbara and Larry.
Ruby placed her membership with the Mayberry St. Church of Christ, Fayetteville, Tennessee in 1946, along with her husband, mother in law, sister in law and children. She remained a faithful and steadfast member for the remainder of her life.
She was a retired employee of S&M Manufacturing Co., after her retirement, she enjoyed attending her monthly meetings of the FCE Club where she was actively involved with members who shared the same interests.
Ruby reached the age of 97 and continued to share words of wisdom with others regardless of age. She was known for her classy look and especially her stylish hats, her award winning fried pies and her sense of adventure. (She was always going somewhere).
Ruby is survived by three children: Willie Smith, Fayetteville, TN; Barbara Gwin, Mason, TN; James Larry (Bonnie) Smith, Temple City, CA; and Goddaughter/Caregiver, Dorothy Wells, Fayetteville, TN; five grandchildren, Pamela (Earnest) Cunningham, Marina Valley, CA, Sharon (Keith) Williams, Long Beach, CA, Sonja (Fred) Brewton, Bloomington, MN, Delicia and Devin Smith, Temple City, CA; four great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
