Zelia Ann Webb Rucker (Ms. Zee) was born September 25, 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Cleotis Webb, Sr. and Berthene Webb. She transitioned into her eternal resting place on March 1, 2019.
Zelia attended Holloway High School in 1962 and graduated in 1966. After high school, she worked at Genesco as a foot model. Then she went into the medical field at Meharry Hubbard Hospital from 1978-1985 as an Electrocardiograph (EKG) technician. She transitioned from Meharry to southside Medical Group to continue being an EKG technician. She also worked many years at Mary’s Barbeque Pit while maintaining her full-time job in the medical field.
She dedicated her life at an early age at St. James C.M.E. Church. She also joined the following ministries, Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Greater View Primitive Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her kindness and laughter that she brought to others and her giving heart.
Zelia is survived by her two daughters, Ytoka (Armond) Rucker Carter and Monquinta (Robert) Rucker Williams; siblings, Cleotis Webb Jr., Barbara Benimon, Clarence Webb, Valerie Webb, Maurice Webb and Kimley Webb; grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Armond Carter Jr., Jordan Carter, Xavier Carter, Timothy Smith Jr., Joshua Jackson; three devoted nieces, Lashunda Webb, Chitoka Webb and Kia (Marcus) Smith; three devoted friends, Beatrice Watkins, Dollye Graham and Lenora Lawrence; and a host of other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
