William (Hen) H. Thompson was born on March 4, 1930 in Shelbyville, TN. He departed this life to be with his Father in Heaven on June 21, 2014. William was born to Morris D. and Lillian Thompson. He was one of six children. He was preceded in death by father Morris; mother Lillian; brother Maurice; and sisters Hattie Belle, Minnie Sue and Inez Moore.

William was educated in the Chattanooga School systems. After completing his education, he joined the military. On March 23, 2000, William was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mildred Johnson. William accepted his call to minister to God’s people in the late 1960’s early 1970’s. He pastored Hurricane Creek Baptist Church for thirty plus years until his health failed him.

William leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife Mildred; sons, William H. Thompson, Jr., Timothy Bailey and Tommy Bailey; daughters, Gwendolyn (James) McClain of Chattanooga, TN, Felicia (Calvin) Turner of Clarksville, TN, Belinda (Jesse) Grimes of Chattanooga, TN and Tiesa Vaughn of Smyrna, TN; brother, Pete (Elizabeth) Lebon of Chattanooga, TN; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brother-in-law George (Rachel) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Alicie (Gardner) Smith, Edith (Robert) Young, Mary (Houston) Overton and Marie McClain; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; and special friend George Greer.
