Momma was a devoted mother and grandmother and was loved by everyone she met. She was known as “Grandmama” to everyone she encountered no matter the relation. Momma was a very good cook and could make the best pinto beans. Momma loved to sit on her porch in the summer and people watch. She also enjoyed spending time with her sister, Louise Wade and spent many hours on the phone with her brother, Houston Wellington, Jr. Momma had a passion for sewing and made her family plenty of outfits and pillowcases to enjoy. She loved to laugh and joke with a little bit of sass.
Momma leaves to cherish her memories, eight devoted children, Patricia Hathaway, Pamela Woods, Cathy Marable, Linda Wilson, Margo (Lathell) Alexander, Jerry (Joyce) Woods, Cleveland (Veretta) Woods and William Woods; daughter-in-law, Ida Woods; very devoted grandson, Kelvin (Rebecca) Nelson and 15 other devoted grandchildren who all loved her dearly; 32 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; brother, Houston Wellington, Jr.; sister, Louise Wade; special friends, Kent and Lynell Syler; and a host of nieces and nephews.
